Saffron has many different chemical components. some of these may help to reduce blood pressure and provide protection against heart disease. One older human study in the Indian Journal of Medical Sciences found that saffron reduced the possibility that bad cholesterol would cause tissue damage. Researchers believe that the antioxidant properties of saffron might have a protective effect when it comes to heart disease.

Once macular degeneration sets in, the retina’s light-sensitive cells break down. The properties in saffron can protect these light-sensitive cells. Recent studies have suggested that saffron can improve the visual acuity in individuals that are suffering from age-related macular degeneration, particularly in its early stages.
6. Enhance digestion
Saffron has been prescribed by medical practitioners to provide relief for common digestive ailments.
